Week Six
Making It Happen

BEFORE MEETING:
A HOLE IN THE SIDEWALK
Do you ever feel like the same stuff comes up for you again and again? The following is a poem by Portia Nelson, set in five "chapters" about transforming that. Consider where in your life this poem might map onto your experience. Is there anywhere you've made it to the fifth "chapter?" Is there anywhere in your life where the fifth chapter would be supported by or inspire your mission?
LIGHT AND DARK
Challenging thoughts and feelings might come up for you in this process. With that said, please consider the following statement:
Every shadow contains a gift.
Choose an area of your life where you experience shadow. Be with it for a moment. Now, ask yourself the following: How do I hold or contain the dark coming up for me? If there is a lightness associated with the darkness, what gifts are being offered? Gold Mining is about you coming into a greater awareness of your brilliance and your genius and how it can serve the world. Please note that this process can coincide with the "positive intent process," or can simply be about acceptance, reframing, or something else entirely. Note anything that needs follow up for you.
DOING AND BEING: DO-BE-DO-BE-DO (A.K.A. THE SINATRA PROCESS)
There are times in our lives that are all about doing, and there are times that are about being. Having a balance of doing and being is important. Gold Mining is about both, and we can develop a mission that is about doing great things in our lives and in the world. At the same time there is a need for being and presence.
Take some time right now to tune yourself to your balance of doing and being. Where do you spend most of your time? With this awareness, take a few moments to journal about where you're more in need, and how you might bring balance. Our essence and purpose stay the same, but the balance of doing and being can shift our mission significantly at a given time.

IN-GROUP FOCUS:
SMARTER GOALS INTRODUCTION
You may be familiar with SMART goals, but how about SMARTER goals? This segment is about breaking down our missions into bite size pieces. Those increments move us toward our big goals. Note whether the left or right brain approach is better for you:
PERSONAL/TRANSPERSONAL
There is work we need to do on ourselves, and there is work we need to do in the world with others. Getting clear on this and having a balance is another important thing for us to do and our missions must reflect this. For a larger perspective on this Personal/Transpersonal balance, take a look at this piece below, and/or see the video (link in the document):
